When the cold days of winter begin to melt away under the August sunshine, my pink Bougainvillea springs back to life in all her glory. This plant has a bit of a backstory in that my grandmother was weary of me planting it as she was worried that the unruly bushy plant would become a playground for snakes. She was not completely wrong, and we’ve had a few stunning Green Spotted Bush Snakes claim a home here, but that has been a small price to pay for the showstopping burst of colour that we get to enjoy each year. Nothing quite says “Spring is here!” than a bouquet of Bougainvillea!
