A Little Greenery and Blooms is the digital home of my never-ending garden adventures. It is my artistic outlet and also a place where I share all of the knowledge I am picking up as I plough and plant in my home garden. Sometimes my harvests are small and other times we are truly blessed with an abundance of goodness. In our home, we cook everything from scratch. Raised by a grandmother who grew her own veg in her youth, and always made a point of cooking a hearty meal of “rys, vleis en aartappels” for our family, I learned to cook using fresh meat and vegetables from a young age.

Over the years of growing some of our food, I have always tried to grow things that are new to our palate but also have that familiarity of home. And at the end of winter, we harvest all sorts of delicious things, such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, tomatoes, Swiss chard, and all sorts of herbs. Even though my garden is small, I can pull out two baskets like this every other day.
